Access to the IMB Microscopy and Imaging Resource

Training
To maintain high scientific quality standards master students and PhD students should receive proper training before being permitted unlimited access to the equipment. Approval of the fluorescence microscopy lecture series as well as the associated practical fluorescence microscopy course is expected. Please refer to the teaching announcements of Prof. Kohlwein and Heimo Wolinski at Uni Graz online.

Persons without training are not allowed to use the instruments.

Current access fees for external groups are*:

50,-- / h in the framework of BioTechMed-Graz
150,-- / h for companies

*subject to the general access policies of the IMB-Graz microscopy faciltiy.

In case of any obscurities or questions please contact Heimo Wolinski or Sepp D. Kohlwein.

New imaging projects
Please contact Heimo Wolinski before using the microscopes for the first time and provide a short abstract about your work as well as the names and contact data of PIs and users.

For administration purposes scan hours will be logged and stored in an internal database.

Scheduling
For reservation of the instruments please contact Heimo Wolinski. Please indicate the number of samples and expected time of usage.

Cleaning Up
After each session, users are required to remove oil from the objectives using the lens paper as demonstrated during the training. Do not rub the lens.

Users are responsible for keeping the equipment areas clean and for removing their data from the hard disk of the computer immediately after each session. Long term storage of large quantity of data on the equipment computer is not possible.

Problems
Users are required to report to Heimo Wolinski any problem that occur on the equipment during the session immediately. Leave a note for subsequent users if the problem affects the usability of the instrument. Questions and suggestions are appreciated!
